Land O' Lakes gets its name as it has more then a 100 lakes. The area has more water than land. Land O'Lakes was named in 1950, when several residents came up with the name when they needed an address for the local post office. The community has had tremendous growth in the last few years, many master planned communites, numerous commercial shopping areas and more are being built. Land O'Lakes is located just north of Tampa on US Hwy 41. For those living in Land O'Lakes it has an easy commute to Tampa down U.S, Hwy 41, I-75, Dale Mabry, or the Veterans Expressway. It is also just 30 minutes to the Gulf of Mexico.
Land O'Lakes has also been having explosive residential growth. Many new subdivsions have recently been built and more are in the process of being built. There are lots of golf courses and other entertainment opportunities.
