Ruskin is one of the southernmost communities in the area now called South Shore. Ruskin was established in 1906 around the the Little Manatee River. Ruskin has been growing rapidly but has maintained its small town feel. The close proximatey to the Little Manatee River allows residents many type of water activites including fishing, boating and kayaking, often from own or their neighbor's back yards. Ruskin also has South Hillsborough County's largest community event, the Ruskin Seafood Festival and the Tomato & Heritage Festival.
Ruskin is a rapidly growing small community in the South Shore area. Getting to Ruskin is easily accomplished by traversing either I-75 our US Hwy 41. This allows for easy access to Tampa, MacDill Air Force Base, Lakeland, Orlando, area attractions and beaches. This small rural area is undergoing construction of the master-planned communities with estate homes, town homes, villas and single family homes with manicured landscapes, parks and recreation facilities. The rural area boasts beautiful homes on acreage with many of them being horse farms. Home prices for villas, single family homes and executive homes range from the mid $100,000’s to over $1,000,000.
