July 25, 2008 - Fiesta in the Park

This concert is a combination of traditional Salsa rhythms along with the contemporary Salsa of today. It is a mixture of Spanish and English songs.

August 1, 2008 - The Rock Band GoDaddies

The GoDaddies are a contemporary sounding band with a smattering of clasics as well. They have a wide sound range with three part harmonies.

August 8. 2008 - The Crystal Blue Band

The Crystal Blue band is a 4 piece band. All the members are lead vocals with a wonderful sound.

August 15, 2008 - Yesterdayz Band

Yesterdayz is a 60’s tribute band. Come dressed as a flower child if you would like to listen to this band playing sounds from the 1960’s, a decade of Peace, Love and Rock and Roll.

Valterra is a new community being offered by McCar homes. It will be a 53 home community located off of Valrico Road north of Highway 60. It will be offer gas for appliances. The amenities will include a conservation area, basketball courts, park and picnic area. It will offer seven floorplans starting at 2,245 square feet. It will have no CDD’s and will have an HOA. Currently they are building the infrastructure for the community, so come by and watch the community grow!

The Brandon area is growing. Brandon’s growth has been phenomenal in the last several years. In 1960, when the first census of Brandon was done, the town only had 1.655 residents, by 2000 there was over 77,000 and today there is close to 100,000 residents. Many new subdivisions have been built and completed in the last several years. The surrounding areas of Valrico, Lithia, Riverview and Durant have also been growing. New developments have been built in the Bloomingdale area around the Bloomingdale Golf Course. Traveling south is the subdivisions of FishHawk, FishHawk Trails, and FishHawk Ranch. The growth has been fueled by homeowners looking for affordable single family housing.

Brandon was founded in the 1850’s by the Brandon family; Brandon has, grown from one family living alone in the wilderness, to a thriving community in Tampa Bay. The Tampa Bay area has several wonderful animal rescue groups. One of the groups is the Greyhound Gang of Florida. Their mission is to find adoptive homes for retired racing greyhounds. All of their donations are used for educational purposes and care of these animals. The Greyhound Gang does adoptions in Hillsborough, Pinellas, Pasco and Polk counties.  

A Greyhound makes a wonderful pet according to the Gang. They are social and during their training process to be a racing dog, they were socialized by dog walkers, trainers and many others.  The Greyhound Gang is always looking for volunteers to help by fostering the dogs in their home until their adoption, to help at adoption events and to help solicit for donations.  The type of donations they are looking for are monetary, blankets, laundry detergent, dog items (food and toys), towels and postage stamps.  To find out about their upcoming events you can call 813-684-4804.

Twin Lakes is a wonderful community in Valrico that has lots of family events.  The park at Twin Lakes is called Zeina Park and has 15 acres of towering oak trees, many of which are supposed to be over 100 years old. Lake Michaela is in the middle of Twin Lakes. Around Lake Michaela is a one-mile continuous sidewalk. Lake Sterns is the other “twin lake”. The lakes each have wetlands to ensure a proper balance between the ecological system and the residential community. The lakes support a variety of wildlife consisting of birds and even alligators. Fishing is allowed in the lake for residents and their guests. Non residents can walk around the lake but not fish.

The Homeowner’s Association at Twin Lakes supports a lot of community events. Last Father’s Day the community had a Father’s Day Fishing Derby followed by an ice cream sundae. At Christmas there was caroling and a candlelight Christmas chorus in the park. Hay rides and pumpkin decorating happened at the Fall Festival.  Neighbors in these affordable single family homes get to know each other at these events.  Children and their families also enjoy the community pool.

FishHawk Ranch is having a Summer Concert Program on Friday nights at their Park Square Town Center. This is the third year in a row that FishHawk is offering the Summer Concerts. The concerts will have a variety of music from blues to rock and roll. The entire family will enjoy these concerts.  After the concert walk over to one of the shops in Park Square Town Center and enjoy a cool drink or an ice cream. Stratford Manor is a great neighborhood of single family homes in north Brandon with easy Access to to I-75. Many of the homesites are huge with 1/3 acre to 1/2 and acre with lush Landscaping and Trees .
